What a fantastic find in the reliable old Vennel in Dumfries! Mr Smith could not have been more generous with his time or his expertise, and he truly went above and beyond in repairing the clock of a dear old friend of mine. He understood exactly how precious the old clock was to my friend (it was a wedding present which had ticked away on his mantelpiece for over half a century) and did precisely what was needed in getting it going again. I just wish he could have seen the joy on my friend's face when the ticking started, followed by the quarter-hour chimes, and finally the hourly 'bongs'. Wonderful! Mr Smith also took time to talk us through the workings of the clock before we took it back to the owner. He clearly is an expert in his field but he's also a very kind man - highly recommended. Got my clock going again after it had been in the garage for 12 years. He came out to my home and collected the clock. Gave me an estimate once he had looked at it which I was happy with and returned my clock after it was fixed. My clock has now been going for over 2 months. I am very happy with the service I received. I don't drive anymore so it was great that the clockmaker collected my clock, delivered and set it up for me. He had to come back out to me to show me how to wind it up. I am more than happy with the service I received. My daughter has since had her small clock fixed by him and hasn't had any problems either.
