With over 35 years experience in the jewellery business we at Margaret Forbes Jewellery - Belfast and Lisburn - specialise in designing all types of precious gem set jewellery.

Our  in-house Gemmologist and Diamond Graders, Victoria Forbes FGA DGA and Charlotte Forbes DGA, both qualified from the Gem Testing Laboratory of Great Britain (London) and they continue to use their expertise to source and handpick our coloured gemstones and diamonds from all over the world.  This allows us to offer our customers stunning high quality stones in beautiful hand-made mounts at the most unbelievably competitive prices.

We specialise in a vast array of coloured stones and styles which you may never have considered before.  Not only do we design for the more traditional taste but we also offer some real show stoppers for the more flamboyant customer.

We regularly source original antique engagement rings and have hand carved replicas made.  This ensures that we retain all the character of the original antique whilst giving our customer exceptional quality and craftsmanship without the maintenance and worry that comes with an original.  We pride ourselves on the fact that our hand-made ‘antique’ pieces are indistinguishable from the originals.

Incompetent at best. Have totally devalued my property and take no responsibility. If the owner cannot distinguish between different chain types I wouldn't want to be buying graded gem stones from her. - I asked for a gold chain be be split, explaining that it had originally been a bracelet and necklace which had been joined some years before. I pointed out that the bracelet had only 5 closed links between each longer link whilst the original necklace had 7 (Figaro style), I was quoted £30, I later received a phone call to say that a basic round clasp would be joined to the necklace whilst the original lobster clasp would be attached to the bracelet. I asked if this could be reversed with the original lobster clasp fastening the necklace. This was agreed and I was quoted £60. On receipt of altered goods I noticed that the bracelet was actually part of the original necklace leaving the resultant 18inch necklace with two different types of chain!. I returned to the shop and was told by the owner that although she had known it was originally separate items she hadn't realised that the chains were different, I questioned this as I would have thought her profession as a jeweller would have qualified her to notice this type of thing, apparently not! The outcome is that the shop have refused to put right their error without charging me for additional work. I truly wish I had gone to any other jeweler in the city or better still sent it off to an online jeweler. If high street shops want to survive,they need to give a superior service and this was certainly not the case with Margaret Forbes , far far from it. You would think they'd be ashamed to let work of this poor quality pass as a repair

I bought a pair of gold hoop earrings for my daughter birthday the lady that served us was very pleasant and helpful we had a lovely experience beautiful jewellery in the shop we will be back

The owner of this store lacks any level of professionalism or customer service skills . There are plenty of others close by that other a far greater level of service in nicer surroundings

Love this shop, they have very nice staff. The jewellery is absolutely fantastic, I've bought out of here on a few occasions. They usually have a good sale on which they do at the minute and if not if you have a membership plus card you get a discount off with it, happiness all round.

I was buying a very expensive piece of jewellery and was treated horrifically. The staff are great but the owner is the unbelievably rude and the most arrogant woman I've ever met. The only reason this place is still open is she stays in the back most of the time. I'll never be back.
