I really can't recommend Mr Child's work highly enough - painstaking, very clear in his explanations, reassuring and clearly a master craftsman who knows and loves all aspects of clocks. Julian Child was recommended as someone who could sort out an inherited clock which has not chimed properly for years and I also gave him a box of several others non-working timepieces (some inherited from family or had picked up in junk shops which had either not worked in my memory, or stopped over the years, or had odd problems such as a broken fixed winding key meaning I could no long wind it up - all kept for sentimental value or because looked attractive but weren't running). Mr Child warned me he might not be able to get them going, or may not be worth repairing but in fact all came back in wonderful condition, polished, restored, cleaned faces, and functioning and all for a very reasonable price given how long he had spent on them - he told me he'd never spent so long undertaking one particular repair technique which is indicative of his determination and care! It is wonderful to hear the tick/and 'heartbeat' of clocks I grew up with, and a much-loved chime not heard for many years - you really won't be disappointed if you ask Julian Child to work his magic on your precious vintage or antique clocks, truly a maestro. I'll very happily return to him in the future, and am singing his praises to any friends in need of clock repairs.
