History of Henry Hird
Hull’s oldest jewellers, Henry Hird Jewellers has been run by members of just two families since it's opening in 1852 and has become a well-known and respected firm which provides good old-fashioned service from people who care.
Henry Hird died in 1921, Henry Cook Hird who was currently running the shop invited Phyliss Price for a 2 week trial which lasted 69 years, during this period Phyliss took over the business and employed her son David Whincup in 1956, who worked there until 1997. David's sister Yvonne Smith took over the running of the shop in 1997. Yvonne had helped in the shop for most of her life whilst maintaing her career as a midwife / district nurse.
Today Henry Hird is ran by Phillip Smith, Yvonnes son with help from Phillip Gray, Sandra Cole and Michelle.

Jackie Hatch5 StarI have been to Henry birds on numerous occasions, being born and bred on Hessle Road it was my “ one stop shop” especially at Christmas . Recently I was bought a designer bracelet , I needed a small charm adding which was a different designer NONE of the designer shops would do the work. Henry Hirds did a very professional job, quite expeditiously . Guys always check this shop out before you go to these overrated “posh” shops!Friday 21st January 2022
