HPPIY A1 StarBe very careful selling any scrap gold to this store.
I took in 2 rings (9carat) weighing 6.1 grams today.
I was offered £50 for them, that's £8.10 per gram. I queried this quote as i knew the scrap price was £16 per gram, so the offer was half the scrap value.
The lady got uppity and challenged me to find anyone offering better so i called Browns jewellers in Sheffield who said they paid £13 per gram.
I then sold them at Browns and got £80, that's a very big difference percentage % wise, especially for those who might be selling heavier weights of gold.
Maltby is quite a poor area and i think it's scandalous that they take advantage of people who don't know any better and are probably desperate for extra money.
It pays to call around and for quotes before giving away your gold to lowball unscrupulous dealers.Thursday 11th November 2021
