Peter Ball5 StarI used to be in the trade and now retired I no longer have a workshop so I took a lantern clock to another clock repair for a service. The clock was made in the late 19th century and has an 8 day movement. I was pretty sure it only needed a good clean but was surprised to be told the main spring needed replacing and it would cost £1104. I was astonished. This was a blatant attempt to rip me off. I'm sad to say alot of people who don't know about these things would accept this.
I took the clock away and brought it here where I had the work done for £160.
